October 23, 2024 - Cape May with Mugsy |
Another beautiful October day in Maryland. I check out the color at the northern end of the Essex Skypark runway. I'm heading over to Massey Aerodrome to meet Mugsy, then we're headed to Cape May Airport for lunch.
I have a little time to kill so I head up the Chester River.
The river makes some radical turns, then peters out.
Massey Aerodrome looking very golden brown this time of year.
Safe on deck at Massey, waiting for Mugsy, and watching people photograph the Stearman.
Mugsy arrived soon thereafter and then we were winging our way across the Eastern Shore and then Delaware Bay. Cape May is in sight at center.
High and descending fast. That means I'm very fast. I'll make a wide sweeping turn around the southern side of Cape May Airport, then enter a long downwind for runway 19.
Safe on deck in front of the building where the Flight Deck Diner is. We arrived around 1PM or so. It was a weekday so the restaurant wasn't crowded. We sat right down. The food came out very quickly which it has the last few times I've been here. I tried something new -- the H-Bomb -- and it was excellent. It is slow-roasted beef, sauteed onions, provolone cheese, and mayonaise, all on a grilled Ciabatta roll.
A committment at home precluded any further fun flying, so I headed straight back home at other-than-low altitude; i.e., no fun.
